Research in Motion has struck a deal with Google under which its BlackBerry will support Google’s VoIP application - Google Talk. The financial details were not disclosed.

Google Talk for BlackBerry will be much like Google Talk for PCs. Users can import their existing contact list, know when contacts are online, and send and receive messages. Users will be notified on the home screen of the BlackBerry when new messages arrive in Google Talk.

BlackBerry users can download the application for free but they may be charged by their mobile operator for data transmitted when using the service.

Google Talk for BlackBerry will be available in the second quarter 2006.
